Paul's been keeping really busy lately, between his guest shot last week on Saturday Night Live and his surprise appearance at the end of Stephen Colbert's last show.
The introspective Boys of Dungeon Lane is McCartney's first solo album in nearly six years. So far, the two singles released from the album sound great, especially the duet with Ringo!
The new album becomes available on line at midnight, which means on the west coast we get it at 9pm.
Just two more days to go! I'm really looking forward to listening to it for the first time as we all do together!
Mystery Shoes [Posted Sunday, May 24, 2026 5/24/26 1:56 pm]
I found these shoes in my closet today.
The funny thing is, I don't remember buying them. They do fit great. I must have gotten them at a vintage clothing store.
Has this ever happened to you? Have you ever found something you totally forgot you bought?
Big week for changes in LA radio [Posted Friday, May 22, 2026 5/22/26 11:34 am]
This has been a big week for changes on the Los Angeles radio dial.
First, last Monday, KNX-FM which had been simulcasting news with the AM since December 2021, switched to all sports, becoming the first all sports station on FM in LA.
It is now the fourth sports station in the LA area, along with KLAC 570 (half-owned by the Dodgers), KSPN 710 and KLAA 830 (owned by the Angels). KNX News continues on AM 1070, and also KNX-FM HD2.
Then, yesterday, with the sunsetting of CBS Radio News which happened today, KNX changed their top of the hour newscast from CBS to ABC News, ending almost 100 years of CBS news on the radio.
Since so many stations including KNX dropped CBS News a day early, we didn't get to hear the real last broadcast of CBS Radio News. You can hear that last broadcast here:

And speaking of vintage telephones...
The best VoIP service [Posted Wednesday, May 20, 2026 5/20/26 1:20 pm]
To actually use my vintage phones, I use VoIP service from a great company in Canada called VoIP.ms to provide my landline.
A small unit called an ATA (which stands for Analog Telephone Adapter) connects to the Internet and makes dial tone and ringing for my landline phone.
These little boxes are helping keep the telephones of the past alive!
My vintage landline phone [Posted Wednesday, May 20, 2026 5/20/26 10:16 am]
I love vintage electronics from the 60s and 70s, especially telephones.
This is the phone currently connected to my working landline, a pristine 1964 Western Electric 500 set. These phones were built to last! In the 60s, everyone had a phone just like this in their house.
I found this on eBay, they have tons of great old telephone stuff!
More of my vintage phones in future posts.

Spotted this funny sticker on a utility pole near my house:
Everyone should have their own theme song [Posted Sunday, May 10, 2026 5/10/26 10:44 am]
A friend of mine who is British has just come clean as to why he's been calling me "Adam Adamant".
It seems Adam Adamant Lives! was a short-lived TV show on the BBC that aired between 1966 and 1967. Although there were originally 29 episodes of the show, only 17 of them still exist. These were released on DVD but only in the UK.
The show is sort of a cross between The Avengers and Dr. Who. The main character, Adam Adamant (not to be confused with Adam Ant or Atom Ant), has been frozen since the late 1800s and is revived from hibernation in 1966, and goes on to solve mysteries for the British government while comedically dealing with the differences between his time and 1966.
But the best part of this, for me, is that I now have an official theme song!
It is sung by Kathy Kirby who was a very popular singer in England in the sixties. Feel free to hum this catchy tune from now on whenever I enter the room.
